Stafford Castle Actors are arriving

18.45
Stafford Castle.

Actors are arriving & preparing for this evening's performance of Midsummer Night's Dream. The weather is holding, dry & very hot.

In Stafford today the judges of Britain In Bloom were due in town, to pass a verdict on the town's floral presentation. While Toyah spent her morning on telephone interviews, I went exploring in search of bibliophilacal tumescence & acquired some genuine bargains in a clothes shop - 4 good cotton shirts for £20 - before giving my custom to a cafÈ opposite the church: capuccini with the FT. Interviews over, we drove towards Cannock Chase and found a canal-side country pub for lunch with Tim, Oberon to Toyah's Titania. Then back to Stafford and a gentle wilt in the Mediterranean heat. The younger actors, after a late night at the Castle bar, set off for a day at Alton Towers.

Here against a portacabin, computing away, the smokers in the cast (a majority) are sitting at the table next to me, blowing smoke over me. They appear to be unaware, or uncaring, of this. I have no objection to smoking. I object to being involved in the habit of another through suffering passive smoke ingestion.
